A new Probus group

UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Pseudo-Imperial coinage. Late 3rd-early 4th centuries. 'Aureus' (Subaeratus, 21 mm, 2.48 g, 12 h), 'Probus Group F'. DVOO[...] Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Probus to left, holding spear over his right shoulder and shield on his left. Rev. Roma (?) seated left, holding uncertain object in her right hand and scepter in her left; around, imitative legend. Aurum Barbarorum I & II -. Holed, broken, glued and with some breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.

This and the following lot 1740 below form a new subgroup of the Probus imitations outlined in Aurum Barbarorum II, p. 210, combining a helmeted bust of Probus with spear and shield on the obverse with a seated figure, likely Roma, on the reverse.
